Description
A perennial herbaceous plant 25 to 100 cm tall. It grows in eastern Siberia and the Russian Far East — in reed-grass and sedge bogs, along lake shores, near hot springs and in flooded marshy meadows. It is a source of the alkaloid lobeline, used to stimulate the respiratory centre in asphyxia, electric shock, heat stroke and poisoning, and also in smoking cessation.Translated from the Russian.
