Description
Gymnopilus penetrans, commonly known as the common rustgill, is a widespread fungus in the family Hymenogastraceae. Its gills become spotted brownish with age, which gives the species its German and Russian names. The cap is rusty yellow to orange-brown and the flesh is bitter; it grows on dead conifer wood, often in large groups, and is inedible. Translated from the German-language Wikipedia.
