Description

Amanita virosa, the European destroying angel, is DEADLY POISONOUS. The flesh is white and smells unpleasant, of rotting potatoes. It forms mycorrhiza with various conifers and broad-leaved trees and prefers sandy soils in damp spruce and pine forest and among bilberry, but also occurs in mixed and broad-leaved woodland.
